In the first three podcasts about goals, I covered “Why do Goals?”, “How to Define Them!” and “Success Comes with Operationalizing”. It is time to move on to how to Reward. Each aspect is important. This one is incredibly valuable in ensuring motivation and building strong teams.

Topics

This podcast focused on how to make sure that rewards are a part of the goal process. There are four areas that are discussed.

  1. Review the Results
  2. Recognize Failures
  3. Celebrate Successes
  4. Prepare for Next Year

The podcast includes detailed information on how to complete a retrospective. The most important aspects are:

  • Prepare
  • “Leave your badge at the door”
  • Problems, not people
  • Everyone gets a chance to speak
  • Someone runs the meeting
    • Review goal/project
    • Discuss what worked and what did not
    • Determine what to do differently in the future
  • Someone writes everything down
  • Produ8ce a final summary

I also provide some links to agile retrospectives. This is a bit different and not covered in detail, but I think it is important.

You can listen to the podcast above. You can also listen on iTunes, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. And I am not creating video versions of the podcasts on YouTube.

Actions

The action for this week is to determine what you will do at the end of the year.

  • What will you do to review the results accomplished?
  • How will you recognize what you (personal goals) or your team/organization (work) could have done better?
  • How will you celebrate your successes?!

I hope you enjoy the podcast!
